Premarital Counseling or Relationship Chaplaincy
I love the wedding ceremony, but my favorite part is walking alongside a couple in conversation as you prepare for marriage. A better name for this work is, Relationship Chaplaincy, because I’m not “counseling” or giving direction as much as holding space for conversations that might be helpful to grow and connect in your relationship. I typically use an assessment and workbook called “Prepare & Enrich.” The assessment affirms your strengths and offers possible growth areas. We’ll spend the majority of our time exploring personalities, communication tools, conflict resolution, financial awareness, expectations, and relationship roles. We will hold at least 5 sessions to cover the assessment and material.
Session 1: Getting to know you, Strengths and Growths.
Session 2: Assertiveness, communication, and active listening.
Session 3: SCOPE personality assessment, relationship roles
Session 4: Financial management, achieving goals together, recreational intimacy and dating.
Session 5: Conflict resolution and managing expectations.
For the assessment and five, one hour sessions, I request and honorarium of $550.
For creating a wedding ceremony, rehearsal, and officiating, I request an honorarium of $500. Travel costs are in addition to the honorarium.
For both premarital counseling, wedding ceremony, rehearsal, and officiating, I request and honorarium of $1000 total.
I am not a licensed therapist. I hold a Masters of Divinity from Vanderbilt University, experience coming alongside 55+ couples over the last ten years, and certification in Prepare & Enrich. I’m happy to recommend a licensed therapist to you if you’d prefer talking with someone that has that additional training.
